Edward Jacoby, 88, of Grants Pass died Saturday, April 27, 2002, at Three Rivers Community Hospital.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. James Boston of St. Luke's Episcopal Church officiating. Chapel of the Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Contributions may be made to Fiat Voluntas Tua, for orphanages in Bosnia and Africa, in care of Chapel of the Valley Funeral Home, 2065 Upper River Road, Grants Pass, OR 97526.

Jacoby was born Aug. 26, 1913, in Portland. On June 27, 1936, in Portland, he married Thelma May Larson, who died Aug. 20, 1982. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946. In 1954, he moved to Grants Pass from Portland. He was a self-employed log truck driver.

He was a member of the Grants Pass Bowling Association. He enjoyed watching sports on TV, and going for car rides.

Survivors include a son, Harold Jacoby of Grants Pass; a daughter, Charla Zeltvay of Grants Pass; a sister, Lillian Mullen of Tigard; two grandsons, two step-grandsons and four great-grandchildren.
