Alex Beaudette Pinned Under Car LOCAL MAN INJURED
Dewey Sifford Was Riding In Car When The Accident Occurred
Alex Beaudette, aged 42, of Champlain, was instantly killed when the car which he was driving turned turtle on the dirt road leading from Ausable Chasm to Keeseville about 11:15 o'clock Friday morning. Dewey Sifford of Plattsburgh who was riding with him escaped with a broken nose and minor bruises.
Beaudette had motored to this city from his home in Champlain with the intention of going to Keeseville on business. He met Sifford and invited him to go for a ride in his Studebaker roadster.
Reaching Ausable Chasm, Beaudette decided to take the dirt road leading from Ausable Chasm to Port Kent which meets the state road at Mason Corners.
Eye witnesses to the accident claimed Beaudette was his car from 50 to 60 miles an hour. When three miles outside of Ausable Chasm he saw a gang of line men working in the road. He applied his four wheel brakes instantly, and as he did they locked. The car whirled over and both Beaudette and Sifford were pinned under the machine.
The telephone men rushed to their assistance and lifted the car off the bodies of the two men.
Beaudette was already dead white Sifford was suffering from shock and other injuries; Dr. A. Charboneau of Keeseville was summoned and he gave first aid to Slord. The road on which the accident occurred is in Essex County. Coroner Bond of that county was notified and gave permission for the removal of the body to Brown's Undertaking Establishment at Plattsburgh. His funeral will be held from the R.C.
