Elizabeth first married Thomas D. Griffiths on 9 Nov 1840 in Abergavenny, Monmouthshire, Wales. Together they had 3 known children as follows: Mr. Thomas David Griffiths/Griffith, Mr. Enoch Theodore Griffiths/Griffith, and Elizabeth Griffiths/Griffith Roberts.
After the death of her first husband, Elizabeth married Thomas W. James on 28 Mar 1864 in Dowlais, Glamorgan, Wales. There were no known children from this marriage.
At the time of the death of her first husband and the time of her second marriage, Elizabeth ran the Nelson Arms Inn located in Gelligaer, Glamorgan, Wales before she immigrated to America with her children in 1865.
Elizabeth immigrated from Wales aboard the Steamer Erin with her children Mr. Thomas David Griffith/Griffiths, Mr. Enoch Theodore Griffith/Griffiths, and Elizabeth Griffith/Griffiths as well as her second husband, Thomas W. James. They departed from Liverpool on 5 Sep 1865 aboard the steamer Erin and arrived in New York on 23 Sep 1865. They immediately went to Jackson County, Ohio. I believe they had family and friends already living there since a large Welch colony was established in this area.
After the death of her second husband, Thomas W. James, she married Reverend Edward Jones about 1874. Both her and Reverend Edward Jones later died in Portsmouth, Ohio. Reverend Jones had, what would be considered at the time, substantial personal property assets when he died including several properties (town lots and homes) in the Portsmouth, Ohio area that he willed to Elizabeth at the time of his death in 1878.
