Paul Robert "Bob" Pape Jr. was born January 14, 1926, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the oldest of the five children of Paul Robert Pape Sr. and Elizabeth Florence Massmann Pape. As a toddler, he moved to Chicago where he lived most of his life. He graduated from St. George High School in Chicago in 1943, and earned his bachelor's degree in business at Loyola University of Chicago. He served in the Navy, both at the end of World War II, and in the Korean War. He worked for White Cap for almost 40 years, starting in sales and ending in management. On June 19, 1954, a 95-degree day in Chicago, he married Dolores Frances "Lorrie" Olker, and had four daughters. They lived in the Chicago and Detroit areas, and also spent some time in Florida. He was a proud grandfather of 12, and a devout Catholic who lived for his religion, family, and golf. He moved to Villa St. Benedict in Lisle, Illinois, on April 30, 2008, and passed away there on September 23, 2008.
