George Faucette Plowman, 76, 603 West Flesheim Street, resident of Iron Mountain
for the last 35 years, died at 10:40 Wednesday night, following an illness of a long duration.
Born in lower Michigan, Mr. Plowman resided t the family farm until he was 21,
when he left to enter school at Ypsilanti, Mich., where he attended only 2 terms &
He returned to the farm. When he was 23 he married & they lived on the farm until
he was 24 & they moved to Lansing, Mich. where he attended Michigan Agricultural College, specializing in plant cultivation & nursery construction.
CAME HERE IN 1895
After graduating in 1895, they moved to Iron Mountain, where he established to Plowman Greenhouse on the sit which it now stands. 4 additions have been made during the past several years & his son, Rex, is the active manager.
Mr. Plowman suffered from a lingering illness for the past 13 years but he was not confined to his bed. He enjoyed daily walks & rides to his business.
Besides his son, 2 sisters, twins & 1 brother survives: Mrs. Dora Bliss, Grand Ledge, Mich.; Mrs. Nora Field & L. L. Plowman, Lansing; 2 grandchildren.
Next Nov. 11th would have been both his 76th birthday & the 53rd anniversary of
his marriage. Interment will be in Cemetery Park.
