Mrs. Lucy Blanche Bowman Thomas age 87 of Stuart, Virginia passed away Thursday November 8, 2012 at Pioneer Community Hospital of Patrick County. She was born in Carroll County on November 24, 1924 to the late Matt and Mary Elizabeth Dickerson Bowman. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Robie Columbus Thomas, a son, Larry Dale Thomas, three sisters: Addie Branscome, Carrie Spence and Fanny Mabry and two brothers: Wilcher Bowman and Walker Bowman. She retired from United Elastic with 46 years of service and worked for Stuart Bowling Center. She was a charter member of the American Legion Post 105 Ladies Auxiliary, a member of the VFW Post 7800 Ladies Auxiliary and one of the co-founders of the Patrick County S.H.A.R.E. Program. She was a member of Green Mountain Baptist Church in Laurel Fork. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, granny, sister and friend.
Mrs. Thomas is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law; Priscilla and Jesse Lawson of Stuart; Faye Tucker of Stuart; a son, Ivon Thomas of Stuart; seven grandchildren: Annette Harbour, Carol Willard, James Lawson, Joanne Spangler, Allen Tucker, Kenneth Tucker, Nathaniel Thomas; twelve grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; two step-great grandchildren; one step-great great granddaughter; a sister, Nancy Mabry of Collinsville; a sister-in-law, Louise Thomas of Laurel Fork; several nieces and nephews and a special friend, Joe Owen of Stuart.
Funeral services for Mrs. Thomas will be held on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at 11:00 am at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Stuart with Pastor Don Reynolds and Pastor Mark Wright officiating. Burial will follow in the Laurel Fork Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home and at other times at the home.
