Gladys Graves married Norman Lester Hopper on 30 June 1923 in Jefferson County. However, married her under the name, Jack Burns. Norman adopted the alias after he was dismissed from the Navy because he contracted meningitis. He enlisted in the Army under the Burns name. He abandoned his family and later married a Rosa, who is buried beside him in the Sam Houston Military Cem. San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas.
