Vernon D. Weiss, age 71, of Richmond, died Tuesday evening (February 24, 2004) at Alterra-Sterling House.
He was born in Greens Fork, Indiana on February 28, 1932 to Raymond and Jeanette Merkamp Weiss and had lived here all of his life.
He was a 1950 graduate of Greens Fork High School and was a veteran of the US Air Force where he served during the Korean War. He was a retired 31 year employee of Belden Wire and Cable and he farmed.
Vernon was an avid sports fan and he enjoyed genealogy and local history. He was a member of Saint Andrew Church and he also attended Visitation Catholic Church in Eaton, Ohio.
His wife, Patricia Weiss, died in 1997.
Survivors include: Daughters Jackie (husband Jim) Kloer of Muncie, Indiana, Carol Zwissler of Bloomington, Indiana, Son Tom (wife Mary) Weiss of Columbus, Indiana, Brothers Charles Weiss of Greens Fork, Eugene Weiss of Hagerstown, Ed Weiss of Daleville, Sister Betty Stubbs of Richmond,
