Mary E. Clever, 86, of Falling Spring Nursing Center and formerly of Corner Road, Mercersburg, PA, died Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at the center.
Born Dec. 28, 1920, near Mercersburg, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Grace Keefer Atherton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd O. Clever, in 1990.
For more that 20 years, she and her husband owned and operated Clever's Grocery Store on Corner Road.
She was a member of Mount Tabor Brethren in Christ Church in Mercersburg.
She is survived by three daughters. Patsy Egolf, Connie Mann and Maxine Hornbaker, all of Mercersburg; two sons, Dale E. Clever of Mercersburg and Jody B. Clever of Waynesboro, PA; two sisters, Lottie Robinson of Chambersburg and Alice Hensley of Harrisonville, PA; two brothers, Amos Atherton of McConnellsburg, PA and Frank Atherton of Little Cove, PA; 11 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Mount Tabor Brethren in Christ Church in Mercersburg. The Revs. Jonathan Laye and Roy E. Brake Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery near Mercersburg.
Visitation will be today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home in Mercersburg and Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
