John William Hendricks, 68, of 1201 Long Meadows Drive, died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 1998 at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Patricia Hendricks. Mr. Hendricks was born in Nelson County, March 20, 1930 to the late James Edward and Polly Elizabeth Lawhorne Hendricks. He was a truck mechanic with Harris Trucking, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of American Legion Post 16. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Connie Sue Walker of Baltimore, Md., Hazel McCraw of Rustburg; a stepson, William Newton Mayberry Jr. of Monroe; two brothers, Robert Lewis Hendricks of Hurt, Charles Hendricks of Greenbriar, Ark.; two grandchildren and his former wife, Ella Mae Arthur of Rustburg. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Fort Hill Memorial Park with the Rev. James Gerhart officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Post 16, 1300 Greenview Drive, Lynchburg, Va. 24502. Woodall-Tharp Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements, 237-9424.
