Irene Rose Reifschneider, 87, of Gering, died Friday, February 22, 2013 at Heritage Estates in Gering. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at Heritage Estates Chapel with Pastor Jim Swift officiating. Interment will be at West Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel Monday, between 1-8:00 p.m.

Memorials can be made in care of the Activities Department of Heritage Estates or Friends and Volunteers of Regional West Medical Center.

Irene was born November 2, 1925 in Polson, Montana to Nicolas F and Matilda (Blumhagen) Commers. Irene grew up on the family farm. She met and married Henry H. Reifschneider September 25, 1944 in Oakland, CA, during World War II, while Henry served in the Navy. After the war, Henry and Irene moved to Bayard, NE where she was a homemaker- later they farmed south of Gering. In 1957, the family moved to Scottsbluff, where Henry was in the Oil business. Irene worked at Alexander's and Town and County Markets and later at J. C. Penney.

Throughout the years, Irene was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Taking care of her family was her passion. Irene could often be found cooking, gardening, or sewing. Irene was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Scottsbluff.

Irene had lived in the loving care of Heritage Estates for the past five years where she suffered from Dementia.

Irene is preceded in death by her husband Henry, parents, brothers, Roy, Milton, Harry, Albert, Nick and Howard sisters Amelia and Esther and son-in-law Gary Reichert.

She is survived by her children; Linda and Larry Martin, Gering, Gordon and Katherine Reifschneider of North Platte, NE, Doug Reifschneider of Gering and Tami Reichert of Scottsbluff. Irene had 10 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
