Bev Broeker, the older daughter of Wallace Ernest "Wally" Broeker (1911-1998) and Ruth Rebecca (Walker) Broeker, 1915-1939, was a 1950 graduate of Morning Sun High School, Morning Sun, Iowa, and a 1953 graduate of the Mercy Hospital Nursing School in Burlington, Iowa.

She married Elwood Baird "Oddie" Marshall on March 6, 1954, at the First Presbyterian Church in Morning Sun. They are the parents of a daughter, Karen (Marshall) Hutchinson, and a son, James A. "Jim" Marshall.

Beverly died from injuries sustained in a traffic accident in 2004.

Beverly J. Marshall, 71, of DeWitt (Iowa), died Saturday, September 4, 2004.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Pastor Christine Dietzen of Cambridge (Illinois) Lutheran Church will be officiating.

She was born March 4, 1933, in rural Des Moines County near Morning Sun to Wallace and Ruth Walker Broeker. After her mother died, she was raised by her aunt and uncle, Theodore and Myrtle Dotson, until her father remarried. After his marriage, she was raised by her father and Ruth Wheeler Broeker. She married Elwood "Oddie" Marshall on March 6, 1954, in Morning Sun.

She graduated from Morning Sun High School and received a degree in nursing from the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Burlington.

She worked as a registered nurse in Burlington, Iowa City, and Geneseo, Illinois.

She and her husband lived in DeWitt for 31 years where they owned and operated Marshall's Green House and Bev and Oddie's Veggies at the River City Farmer's Market in Davenport.

She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church, Morning Sun, Clinton County Farm Bureau and the River City Farmer's Market Association.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Karen (Jeff) Hutchinson of Cambridge; a son, Jim Marshall of DeWitt; six grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Shirley (Larry) Smith of Wapello; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, stepmother, and aunt and uncle.
