He was a butcher. Abraham was the son of Georg Jacob Reifel (b. 1772), a husbandman and his wife Margaretha Reiffel (maiden name was Reiffel, b. 1770). Georg was the son of Abraham Reifel (1751-1806) and Anna Elisabetha Weiss (1752-1832). Margaretha was the daughter of Abraham Reifel (1744/45-1822) and Eva Catharina Kleinmann (1745/46-1800). Abraham was the son of Philipp Jacob Reifel and Suzanne. Eva was the daughter of Johann Balthasar Kleinmann and Anna Christine Grassmueck.
He came to the US from Bellheim, Germany with his sons Jacob and Carl on 23 August 1850. He arrived from LaHavre, France on 20 December 1850 on the ship Arradia. Some accounts lists that he and Jacob died on the ship and their is also a death record which states he died in Gretna, Lousiana. It is signed by his son Charles Reifel. Jacob has a death records for 1853.

Some accounts lists that he and Jacob died on the ship and their is also a death record which states he died in Gretna, Lousiana. It is signed by his son Charles Reifel.
