FIRE CHIEF KENNY RYAN DIES TUES.
Kenneth R. Ryan, 52, died at St. Clare hospital Tuesday afternoon after an illness of several weeks.

Mr. Ryan was born June 10, 1914, the son of James and Margaret Darrow Ryan. He was educated in the Blanchardville school and was a graduate of the Edgewood High School. On May 22, 1939, he was married to Eva Weier at St. Patrick's church, Hollandale.

Mr. Ryan owned and operated the Ryan Hotel and Tavern until 1963. In 1965 he opened the Eagles Nest Youth Center. He has been active in community affairs and was a life member of the Blanchardville Fire Department, being the Fire Chief since January 10, 1963. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10 in the Immaculate Catholic church with Fr. Victor Falkenstein officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the Saether Funeral Home after noon today, where the rosary will be recited tonight at 8 p.m.

Surviving are his wife, Eva; one daughter, Mrs. Russell Moen (Rita Rae), Blanchardville; three sons, Larry, Timothy and Michael, all at home; one brother, Dr. LaVern Ryan, Littleton, Colo.; two sisters, Mrs. Herbert Caraway, Billings, Mont., and Mrs. Max Jacobs, Freeport; and 4 grandchildren.
