Mr. Ryan, who in recent years lived with his son-in-law and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Max Jacobs, Freeport and with his son and daughter-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Ryan, Blanchardville, was born in Blanchardville Sept. 15, 1884, the son of Patrick and Mary Brew Ryan. He attended schools in Blanchardville and was married there Feb. 21, 1906, to Margaret Darrow, who died last year.
Mr. Ryan was a hotel and tavern keeper in Blanchardville, and had a wide circle of friends. He retired from business eight years ago.
Surviving are two sons, Kenneth, Blanchardville, and Dr. James L. of Denver, Colo.; two daughter, Mrs. Max (Marilyn) Jacobs of Freeport and Mrs. H. T. (Maxine) Caraway of Billings, Mont.; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Smith, Milwaukee, and Mrs. Joe Knorr, Blanchardville; and two brothers, John of Madison and Sylvester of Blanchardville, and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
Mr. Ryan was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Church.
