Two years ago at this season there were three of us. Though my husband had,
at that time been confined to his bed for eight months, friends had made his
last Christmas a very happy one for us all. What fun it was to run to him with
all the pretty cards, gifts, and surprises. How Louise and I missed him on last
Christmas. After his passing, I prayed and hoped more than ever for the
restoration of her health, but after nursing him for more than five years,
together with the responsibility for the family, her frail body was worn beyond
recovery.

As weeks passed and she only grew weaker, I begged God to take her to rest,
if it was best to not heal her. Her pale thin features, listless step, and
pitiful efforts to keep cheerful, almost broke my heart. The Father heard and
answered my prayer. Six months ago we laid her beside Jim, and I was glad; O,
how glad cannot be expressed. The two of them –my darlings, resting at last,
after years of suffering, heartaches and disappointments;
