James Sanders was born abt. 1808 on the Sanders homestead on the northern branch of King's Creek in what is now Hancock Co., WV. His parents had recently arrived from Fairfax, VA.
Around 1827 James married Sarah (surname presently unk.) and they had nine children.
In their daughter Caroline's will written February 5, 1861 Caroline Sanders directed "that my cow be sold and the money expended in fencing the graves of my father's family." Unfortunately this fence did not last.
