Edith was born in Berryville Arkansas the daughter of Boyd Henry Isaac Long and Dora Abbynita Weirick. She was one of 9 children. She married Alvin Winn when he returned from WWII in 1945 and they moved from Oklahoma to Oregon. She had three kids there and then moved to Alaska in 1968. They moved first to Wrangell and then on to Juneau. Edith worked for several years for the State of Alaska. Several years after she was widowed she left Juneau eventually moving back to Burns Oregon. There she met and married Alvin Hoecker in 1995.
