TURKEY — G.P. Driskill Jr., 89, of Turkey died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, in Amarillo.
Services for will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Turkey Church of Christ with Stuart Smith, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery. Arrangements are by Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Quitaque.
G.P. was born Feb. 8, 1923, near Happy to Gilbert Preston and Willie Driskill. He served in the Navy during World War II from November 1942 to December 1945 as an electrician's mate second class.
After the service, he moved to Turkey, where he met and married Betty Jean Cruse on May 12, 1946, and they were blessed to celebrated 66 years of marriage in May. He owned Panhandle Oil Company in Turkey for 25 years and then worked in cash register repairs for several years. G.P. was a member of the Turkey Church of Christ and served as an elder for 42 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Belle Davis.
Survivors include his wife Betty; a son, David Driskill and wife Kathy of Canyon; two daughters, Jeanne Coy and husband Mike of Hubbard and Jana Carpenter and husband Ronnie of Quitaque; seven grandchildren, Amy and Jeff Grimland, Jason and Brittany Payne, Josh and Brittney Coy, Amber Coy, Megan and Jason Golden, Sara and Eric Stocker and Libby and Brec Brackett; 12 great-grandchildren, Elise and Michael Grimland, Ryan Coy and Bailey Ellison, Brynn Coy, Wyatt, Jack, Rachel and Allie Golden, Nicholas and Easton Stocker, Hope Brackett, and Jayleigh Payne to be born in February.
