Susie E. Reed, 85, of Caughdenoy, passed away at her home on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012. She was born October 28, 1927, in Euclid, NY, a daughter of Walter and Frances Dark Ames. She was a graduate of Central Square Central School and C.C.B.I. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald Reed, in 1999. They were married on June 5, 1948, in Central Square, NY. Susie was a medical transcriptionist for the Wausau Insurance Co., Syracuse, NY, for 15 years. She was a member of the Caughdenoy United Methodist Church, administrative assistant for the United Methodist churches of Caughdenoy, Pennellville and Palermo, and held various offices in the Northern Conference UMC. Susie was also a member of the Central Square Home Bureau and the Central Square Alumni Assoc. Surviving are three sons, Marty and Rita Reed of Pennellville, Kevin and Jo Beth Reed, Ft. Worth, TX, and George and Jill Reed of Liverpool; nine grandchildren, Eric, Andy, Jeff, Tim and Allison Reed, Meridith Styer, Monica Burkett, Kelsey Ostman and Brad Reed; four great-grandchildren, Austin, Ericka, Joseph and Kayla Reed; a sister, Shirley Clark of Syracuse; a brother, Walter "Bud" Ames of Loveland, CO; and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by a sister, Mildred Travis. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Caughdenoy United Methodist Church under the direction of Watson Funeral Home, Central Square, NY. Private interment in Pine Plains Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home, 631 S. Main Street. Memorial contributions may be made to the Caughdenoy UMC Memorial Fund, Central Square, NY.
