John Stokes Albritton, 68, of Jesup, GA, died Sunday, October 21, 2012 at his residence. The Wayne County native was a 1962 graduate of Jesup High School. He attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, where he received an Associate's degree. He served as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era and was stationed in Germany and Kansas. He was a lifelong outdoorsman who was most at home on the Altamaha River, where he enjoyed boating, fishing, and the companionship of family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stokes and Lois Hires Albritton, of Jesup.

He is survived by his sister, Virginia A. Garlen, brother-in-law, Bill G. Garlen, two nieces and their spouses: Jennifer C. Garlen and David Sparks of Huntsville, AL and Julie Garlen Maudlin and Chris Maudlin of Jesup; two great nieces, Taylor Maudlin and Cate Sparks, two great nephews, James Maudlin and John Stokes Maudlin; and many beloved cousins.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 23rd, 2012 from Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home Chapel. American Legion Post 311 will present the American Flag. Active pallbearers will be: Albert Hires, Warren Hires, George Hires, Thurman Hires, Bill Cooksey, and Ronnie Cooksey.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Tuesday, prior to the service.

A private burial in Pinecrest Cemetery will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Animal Refuge Foundation of Wayne County, P.O. Box 432, Jesup, GA 31598.
