Vera Smith Eddy
Vera Smith Eddy, 88, of Reno, died Friday (June 16, 2006) at the Arbors at Marietta.
She was born July 23, 1917, in Washington County, the daughter of the late Ernest and Clara Woods Smith. She was a homemaker and was a faithful member of the Eddy's Ridge Church of Christ.
On August 14, 1932, she was married to Virgil Eddy. She and her husband were married for 42 years. He died July 17, 1979.
She is survived by four sons, Ronald Eddy and his wife, Wilda, of Fleming, Jerrold Eddy and his wife, Nancy, of Reno, Lowell Eddy and his wife, Kay, of Newport, and Jackie Eddy and his wife, Gayle, of New Matamoras; one daughter, Darla Eddy and her friend, David, of Reno; 17 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Jimmy Smith of Newport; and one sister, Betty Becker of Marietta.
In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Gordon, Gib, and Karl; and five sisters, Elsie, Ruth, Jean, Evelyn, and Mary.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Delbert Westbrook officiating. Interment will be in Eddy's Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 p.m. today until the hour of the service.
