Betty E. Becker, 96, of Marietta, passed away on Saturday (May 26, 2012) at her home.
She was born Nov. 12, 1915, in Lawrence Township to the late Ernest and Clara Woods Smith. She was a homemaker and enjoyed working with her hands crocheting, knitting and quilt making. She was an active member of Moss Run Community Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years, served as choir director and missionary chairman, sang in the choir, and active in women's fellowship.
On Dec. 27, 1933, she married Allie A. Becker, who passed away Feb. 4, 1993.
She is survived by four sons, Allie "Gale" (Audrey), Gordon "Wade" (Lila), Floyd (Jane Ann), Billy (Marilyn) Becker, one daughter, Nancy (Chester) Reynolds, daughter-in-laws, Wilda and Virginia Becker, son-in-law, Butch McGregor, all of Marietta; brother, Jimmy Smith of Newport; 27 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Eldon and Stanley; one daughter, Ila McGregor; one granddaughter, Carmen Becker; two great-grandchildren, Trevor Becker and Tiffany Ross; two brothers, Gordon and Gilbert Smith; three sisters, Vera, Mary "Babe," and Jean Eddy; one brother and three sisters died in infancy, Carl, Elsie, Evelyn, and Ruth.
Funeral services will be Wednesday (May 30, 2012) at Moss Run Community Church at 11 a.m. with Pastor Randy Murdock officiating. Burial will follow in Moss Run Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hadley Funeral Home Reno Chapel, 1021 Pike St., Marietta.
