CHARLES E. SEMPLE, 69, CITY CLERK OF HUNTSVILLE, DIES

Charles E. Semple, 69, Huntsville city clerk and a Randolph County old settler, died this morning---the day of the annual Old Settlers Reunion. For years a Huntsville pharmacist, Mr. Semple resigned as city clerk two weeks ago after holding the office for 15 years.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Maggie Semple, one brother, Fairman C. Semple, Kansas City; a sister, Miss Ella Semple, Huntsville; and an aunt, Mrs. Clara Baker, St. Louis. His only child, a daughter, died 21 years ago.

Mr. Semple's father owned a drug store in Huntsville, which the son bought and operated a number of years ago. Later he sold out and worked as Pharmacist in various Huntsville drug stores.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star and Maccabees.

Mr. Semple's body will remain at the Patton Funeral Home in Huntsville, where the funeral will be held at 2:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon. He will be buried in Huntsville.
