Mildred "Millie" E Eckstein, 91, of Urbana, passed away Monday, September 10, 2012, in Vancrest of Urbana.
She was born March 14, 1921, in Ross County, Ohio, the daughter of Stanley and Mayme (Ridgeway) Leaverton.
Millie was a graduate of Wilmington High School. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Urbana and enjoyed reading and cooking.
Millie loved going to church and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her sons, Allan (Vicki) Eckstein of Urbana, Michael (Diana) Eckstein of West Liberty and Anthony (Laura) Eckstein of St Paris; daughters, Mary (Dan) Freyhof of New Carlisle, Theresa Cody of New York, Christine (Dan) Miller of Dayton, Kathryn (Larry) Smith of St Paris and Nancy Valentine of West Liberty; 27 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
Millie is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herman Joseph Eckstein; daughter, Irene Olivia; sons-in-law, Ronald Valentine and Robert Cody.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-8 pm on Friday, September 14, 2012, in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana. Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Saturday, September 15, 2012, in the Grace Baptist Church, Urbana, with Pastors Aaron Samples and Michael Eckstein officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, St Paris.
