Paul Preston Banks, 87, of Washington, died Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at the Washington County Hospital in Washington, following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, March 30, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Washington with Bishop Doug Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Beatty Funeral Home in Washington where the family will be present to greet friends.
Mr. Banks was born Aug. 6, 1921, in West Chester, the son of Floyd and Mary (White) Banks. He married Barbara Boomershine on Sept. 16, 1947, in Washington.
He graduated from Keota High School and attended TV repair training in Chicago, Ill. He owned and operated Banks TV for over 40 years. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed repairing TV's, attending the races in Eldon to watch his nephew's race, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are two sons, Tim Banks of Washington, and Kevin Banks of Washington; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Loyal Banks and wife Jeanette of Washington, and Roger Banks and wife Jackie of Des Moines.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in March 1988; and one daughter, Tanya Jo Banks.
