Our dear wife, mother and grandmother went home to be with her Lord in the early hours of August 27, 2012. Although our hearts are broken, we are confident that she is now at home, no longer suffering in her frail human body, and is now whole, healthy, and reunited with many loved ones and friends.
Helene was born May 6, 1920, to Guy and Harriett Prewitt in Springfield, Ill.
In 1950 she married the love of her life, John "Jack" Barr. In their first couple of years of marriage they were traveling on the road with Jack's job.
In 1952 they settled down in Detroit, Mich. Their first child, David, was born in 1954, followed by Carol in 1956.
In 1958 they moved westward to California and lived most of those years in Thousand Oaks. Helene's greatest love, apart from her family, was for her Lord, Jesus Christ.
In 1963 Jack and Helene were charter members of a small church, Bethany Baptist Church, here in Thousand Oaks. Serving her Lord in many ministries was her greatest joy.
She was preceded in death by her son, David, in 2006. She is survived by her husband, Jack; daughter, Carol Trumpy (Tom); daughter-in-law, Julie Barr; grandchildren: Julianne, David, Russell, and Christopher Trumpy; Brittany, Courtney, and Austin Barr.
