George was the son of Michael and Amy Hughes Geller. He was the first husband of Sarah Snoots. They had 3 children live to adulthood: Henrietta, Capitola and Willis. During their marriage they lived in Adamsville and in Moscow, Iowa. George worked as blacksmith. During the Civil War he served with the 35th Iowa Inf. Co. I. Sometime recently he has had a new government issued marker placed on his grave.
His birth and death dates are uncertain but based on the census, he was born about 1831. He died young sometime between the birth of son Willis in 1866 and 1870, when Sarah is listed as a widow in the census.
