Hayes (Hicks) Polly Mae, Ann Arbor, Michigan, Age 78, died Wednesday, June 30, 1999 after a lengthy illness at the Evangelical Home in Saline. She was born February 9, 1921 in Garrett, Ky, the daughter of Alfred and Dora (Bolen) Hicks. She was married to Bernard S. Hayes for 60 years, who preceded her in death. Survivors include three daughters, Bernardine (Brian) Hertica, Madeline (Tony) Peters, both of Ann Arbor and Deborah Hayes Atkinson of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada; nine grandchildren, Tony (Jill Henry) Peters, Anne (Sam) Iaquinto, Michael (Desiree) Hertica, Tracey Hertica, Mark Peters, Jennifer, Ashley, Rebecca Atkinson; six great-grandchildren, Joshua, Jamie, Jessie and Jake Hertica, Sammy and Spencer Iaquinto; one sister Millie Dudley; three brothers, Bert (Mable) Hicks, Orval Hicks & John M (Martha) Hicks; and many other family and friends, including loving sister-in-law Josephine Cowgell. She was preceded in death by seven brothers. Polly was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother and adored her great grandchildren. She was a member of Bethlehem United Church of Christ. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, July 3, 1999 at Muehlig Funeral Chapel. Service time to be announced in Friday, July 2, Ann Arbor News. Family will receive friends on Friday, July 2, from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethlehem U.C.C. or the Evangelical Home in Saline.
