Mae Carlson, died Thursday Feb. 9, 2012, at the Henning Golden Living Center.

Mae Alicia Nelson was born June 23, 1918, at Deer Creek, the daughter of Anton J. and Ida (Landmark) Nelson.

She was baptized and confirmed in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. She attended country school for eight years then continued her education, graduating from Deer Creek High School.

She then went to Minneapolis and attended Paul's Beauty School. She was employed in St. Paul, MN. She was married to Cecil Keapproth on Oct. 15, 1941.

She joined her husband in Los Angeles, Calif. Cecil was drafted into World War II and Mae worked at the Federal Cartridge Plant as a cartridge inspector. Following her husbands return from overseas, he built their home in St. Paul, where he was a building contractor.

They were the proud parents of Gary, Joan, Brent, and Warren Keapproth. In 1953, Mae and her children moved to Henning.

She was employed at Home and Farm Supply. She was an active volunteer working as a Gray Lady at the Henning Nursing Home where she also volunteered doing ladies' hair.

She was active in Good Shepherd quilters and WELCA. She also did volunteer work at the Henning Senior Citizens Center for many years.
In 1966, she married Art Carlson. They enjoyed traveling and visited Hawaii, Alaska, and many countries in Europe.
She was preceded in death by her husbands; her parents; brothers: Clifford and Anton, Jr.; a sister, Luella; and a step-daughter, Louise Gaston.
Memorial Service: 10:30 a.m. Friday, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Henning
