Christopher Germanson who celebrated his 94th birthday anniversary Nov. 9, last year, passed away at 12:20 o'clock this morning at the home of his daughter Mrs. Walter Behllng. 418 Waugoo street, after an illness of one week.
The eldest and last surviving member of a family of 16 children, Mr. Germanson was born in Port Washington, Wis., Nov. 9, 1855 Both his father, a violin maker, and his mother were natives of Norway,
At the age of 13, Mr. German son left his Port Washington home and became a sailor on the Great Lakes, retiring from the lakes as an engineer in 1925. In 1890 he married the former Lora Ballard whose' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ballard were pioneer residents of Winnebago county, living south of Oshkosh on the Waupun road. Mrs. Germanson passed away in 1941 at the age of 80, one year after the couple celebrated its golden wedding anniversary.
Mr. Germanson attended Tenth Street Methodist church.
Survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Frank Rueping, Gibbstown, N, J., Mrs. Frank R. Jenkins, Beaver, Pa., Mrs. Roy Goddard, Alliance, O, and Mrs. Walter Behling. with whom he resided here. Also surviving are seven-grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one niece and two nephews. Two granddaughters, Mrs. Harry W. Nankervis and Mrs. James Mailahn, are Oshkosh residents,
Funeral services will be at 1.30 p. m. Wednesday at the Mallery & Seefeld funeral home with the Rev. Douglas Anderson of Edgerton, Wis., officiating. Friends may call from 7 p.m. Tuesday. Mr. Germanson will be buried at Riverside cemetery.
