NORMA HICKEN ADAMSON
A great lady passed away on April 9, 1995, at the early dawn of a beautiful snowy Sunday morning.
Norma was born in Heber City, Utah, on April 17, 1928, a daughter of Dr. N. Frederick and Alta Hicken.
As a graduate of East High School, Norma attended the University of Utah for three years where she was affiliated with the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. She was married to Jack Adamson on June 25, 1948. Norma and Jack Adamson were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on October 9, 1955.
As an active member of the LDS Church, Norma served in many positions of leadership in her various wards; her most recent assignment was a teacher in Relief Society. She raised her family of five children in Kansas City, Missouri; Bellevue, Washington; Rancho Palos Verdes, California; and Salt Lake City, Utah.
Norma was active in community affairs. While living in California, she was the president of the California-Utah Women's League and upon her return to Salt Lake City, she was the president of the Utah-California Women's League. She served as a board member of Ballet West, was active in Utah Opera Co., and the Salt Lake Arts Council. For several years she served in the Assistance League of Salt Lake City, devoting her talents to the consignment shop.
Norma was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and was an exceptional homemaker and friend to those who surrounded her and were welcomed to her beautiful home.
Today she is survived by those who love her: a dear friend and loving husband, Jack; her father, Dr. N. Frederick Hicken and his wife Margarete; her three sons, John F. (wife Nancy) Adamson, David H. (Toni) Adamson, Andrew H. (wife Wendy) Adamson; her two daughters, Susan Adamson Sundwall (husband Dr. Dale A. Sundwall) and Amy Adamson Tingey (husband Bruce D. Tingey); and her 15 grandchildren who will always remember her.
Norma was predeceased by her mother, Alta Hicken.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 12, 1995, at 12 noon in the Salt Lake Monument Park North Stake Center, 1320 Wasatch Drive (2425 East). Friends may call at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive, on Tuesday evening from 6:30- 8:30 p.m. and at the Stake Center on Wednesday from 10:30-11:45 a.m. prior to services.
