Mignon Ulke Lamasure, age 96, a linguist and piano recitalist died Thursday in a nursing home in Northport, Long Island where she had lived for the past eight years. She had resided in the District for more than 80 years. She once played the piano before President Theodore Roosevelt in the White House. She was the daughter of Henry Ulke, a naturalist and painter, whose portrait of General Ulysses S. Grant hangs in the White House. She was best known for her operatic lectures and recitals in 1914 and 1915 which were advertised in local newspapers. She became a foreign language translator for the War Department during World War I and retired in 1930. In 1954, she traveled to Scandinavia for six weeks with a friend. When she returned, she commented, no one is too old to travel. Her husband, George M. Lamasure, who was a Government attorney, died in 1947.
