The children, a girl and three boys were drowned Monday (June 29, 1959) in a pond on the C.O. Martin Farm on the Kennison Road where the family resides.

The Rev Alcide Sonnier officiated services at St. Landry Catholic Church for Patricia Ann Dutile 3 1/2 years; Calvin Paul Dutile 6 years; Michael Wayne Dutile, 7 1/2 years; and Carol Joseph Dutile, 9.

Burial for the children was in Myrtle Grove Cemetery. The caskets were laid side by side. Lafond and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

The children drowned when the pirogue in which they were riding filled with water and sank. The father, who was in the pond swimming by the pirogue, was unable to save the children. Mrs. Dutil watched the tragedy from the banks.
