On Friday, July 27, 2012, at 6:09 p.m., Barbara Buelow Busch passed away at 69 in Phoenix, Ariz.
Born in Iowa, daughter to Loren and Doris Buelow, Barbara graduated from Carl Hayden High School in Phoenix in 1961. After relocating to southern California, Barbara married John Busch, with whom she shared 48 happy years of marriage and two sons, John Jr. of Anaheim, Calif., and David of Virginia Beach, Va. In those years, Barbara cultivated her talents as a skilled seamstress as well as an incredible baker, famous for her ornate cakes and delicious cookies, all while working around the clock and raising two boys. John and Barbara retired to Prescott, Ariz., where Barb enjoyed the weekend craft shows and strolls around the courthouse with her girlfriends. It was there that she developed a passion for quilting, and she joined a quilting group where she could share that passion with others. Barbara also volunteered her time at the VA hospital to sit with ill patients, touching countless hearts. Even as she fought the good fight, she did so with such dignity that all who knew her were deeply touched and forever inspired.
She is survived by her sister, Betty Miller; and her brother, Jerry Gotoski; and she will always be remembered as the special, loving grandmother she was to her four grandchildren, Meredith, Johnny, Austin and Jenson.
A memorial service will be at Messinger Indian School Mortuary, 7601 E. Indian School Road, Scottsdale, AZ 85251, (480) 945-9521.
