Allene Cooke Butler, 83, of Port Lavaca, passed away April 18, 2007. She was born Jan. 6, 1924, in Abilene, Texas to the late Albert and Mary Smith Cooke.
Mrs. Butler was an educator for over 30 at Crockett Jr. High School. She taught Homemaking, Texas History and Science. She was an Honors graduate of Howard College, now Samford, in Birmingham, Alabama and Texas State University in San Marcos.
She has been a member of First Baptist Church, Port Lavaca for 52 years, actively serving as a Sunday School Teacher for over 50 years. Allene was Director of the Homebound Program and a Jolly Elder Director.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Earl Butler of Port Lavaca; daughters, Reba Kochersperger and Charles Davis of Houston, Texas and Jan Wilson and husband Buddy of Houston; grandchildren, Mike Kochersperger and wife Jeanne, Greg Kochersperger, Megan Downs and husband Steven, Katie Wilson and Clif Wilson; great grandchildren, Max, Holden and Madison Kocher-sperger, Reid Wilson and Con-nor Downs; sisters, Deloise Mil-ler of San Antonio, Dorothy Hayes of Beaumont, Flora Mae Nickerson of Magnolia and Ellen Flynt of Baytown; and a host of extended family and friends.
Including her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Addie Belle Bailey; and brothers, Albert Cooke, Jr. and Charles Cooke.
Visitation will be held Thurs-day, April 19, 2007, from 6 to 8 in the evening at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, April 20, 2007, at 11:00 in the morning at First Baptist Church in Port Lavaca, Rev. Mike Gresham officiating. Interment Services will be held Saturday, April 21, 2007, at 11:00 in the morning at Hill of Rest-Cedar Crest in Baytown.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are the grandchildren.
