RONALD JAMES COOK, 81, Webster City, died Monday, July 29, 2002 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Asbury United Methodist Church, with Harriett Danielson, Ron's sister-in-law officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post #191. Visitation was at Foster Funeral Home.

Ronald James Cook, son of Verner and Marie Eulberg Cook, was born Jan. 6, 1921 at Sanborn. He graduated from Sanborn High School in 1939. In April of 1942 he enlisted in the U.S. Marines Corps. He attended Oberlin College in Oberlin, Ohio for two years. In October of 1945, he was commissioned a 2nd Lieutnant in the Marines and in 1946 was discharged from the Marines. He attended the University of Iowa from 1946 to 1948, receive a degree in Commerce. He was recalled to active duty in 1951 and was discharged a year later as a First Lieutenant. On June 11, 1950, he married Geraldine Marjorie Danielson at Decorah. The couple resided in Waterloo, where he was employed at the Rath Packing Company as chief general accountnt. In Nov. of 1965, they moved to Webster City. He was Vice president-controller for the Nissen Company until his retirement in July of 1987.

Mr. Cook is survived by his wife, Gerry; daughters and sons-in-law, Jan Cook of Texas, Ronda & Tim Noel of Urbandale; son and daughter-in-law, Rod & Lynette Cook of Urbandale; grandchildren, Garrett & Austin Cook, Shawntel & Reanna Noel; sisters, Theo Willey of Paullina, Lucille Johnson of Mankato, Minn.; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Art Cook.

He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and was active in various church operations.
