Born February 16, 1923, in McSherrystown, he was the son of the late Joseph C. and Sarah E. (Storm) Brady.
Raymond was retired from C.C. Kottcamp & Son and a plumber and pipe fitter most of his life.
Gat was a veteran of the Army Air Corps as a flight engineer during World War II.
He was a member of and, for a period of time, the "Keeper of the Keys" for Annunciation B.V.M. Catholic Church in McSherrystown and a life member of the McSherrystown Home Association and SAVES.
Gat was a drummer for the Hanover American Legion Post 14, Lancers Drum and Bugle Corps. He enjoyed the outdoors and cherished a joke or two while interacting with people and most especially was devoted and supportive to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three children: Lois Brady-Zinn and her husband, John, Anthony Brady and wife, Melanie (Sandruck), and David Brady and wife, Julie (Carbaugh), all of Hanover; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three siblings: Corrine Heverly of Hanover, Robert Brady and wife Kathryn of Lancaster, and Jerome Brady and wife, Mary of Gettysburg.
He was preceded in death by six siblings: Donald, Richard, Carroll and Lorena Brady, Evelyn Geiman, and Bernadette Weaver.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. June 29, 2012, at Annunciation Church in McSherrystown, with Rev. Lawrence W. Sherdel officiating. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery, McSherrystown, with full military honors provided by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
