Herbert Lee Stocking passed away at the home of his daughter Lorrie on June 26, 2012 after a lengthy illness.

Herb was born in Mayfield KS. and attended Pittsburg State University and later Stanford University.

Herb was a Marine in World War 11 and later was recalled as reservist during theKorean Conflict. Herb was a teacher and school adinistrator for over 20 years and later was the road superintendent for the City of Carterville Mo. for over 20 years. He will be remebered for his hard working nature, kind heart and lovefor his family. His sister Mary Metcalf of Colorado Springs Colorado, Son Brad Stocking and wife Debbie of Reno Nevada. daughter Lorrie of Carthage Mo. son Scott Stocking and wife Robbyn of Irvington Ill survive him. His grandchildren, Rachel Stocking of Long Beach Ca. Matthew Stocking and wife Sara of Rancho Cucamonga Ca. Chelsea Gibson of Springfield Mo. and Kate Stocking Irvington Ill.He has one great grandhild Mason Scott Stocking of Rancho Cucamonga Ca.and wife Marjorie. son in law Carl Gibson 8 siblings and granddaughter Ellyn Lynn Ann Stocking preceded him in death.

We will all remember his kind heart, compassion and love for his kids and especially his grandkids. His hard work and genuine care for the school, towns, and people he worked for and with shall always be an inspiration.

Friends are invited to attend a graveside memorial service at 10a.m. Thursday June 28, 2012 at Ozark Memorial Park under the direction of Parker Mortuary.

Memorial contributions may be made in Herb's memory to the Mercy Hospice Program in care of the mortary.
