Obituaries
Valmont Bourque
Valmont Bourque, 89, died at his home, 15 Church St, at 5:30 a.m. Friday, May 29.
He was born at Bonaventure, Quebec on March 14, 1902, a son of Bonaventure and Marie Bugeau Bourque, and came to Tupper Lake in June, 1923.
Mr. Bourque was employed on logging jobs and at the American Legion Mountain Camp over the years. With his first wife, the former Yvonne Joncas, he operated the Elite Restaurant in downtown Tupper Lake for six years. He retired in 1968.
His first marriage ended in divorce, and on August 10, 1972 he was married to Viola Boushie, who survives him.
Surviving also are a son, Armand Bourque, Tupper Lake; one brother, Louis Bourque of Bonaventure, Que.; two sisters, Mrs. Lucille Bedore of Edmonton, Alberta and Mrs. Anita Alard of Port Hope, Ontario; two stepsons, Kenneth Burnette, Tupper Lake, and Donald Burnette of Leesburg, Florida; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Joan Denis and Mrs. Marshall (Betty) Jarvis, both of Tupper Lake; 19 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a son, Ronald Bourque, who was fatally injured in an auto accident on the Kildare road on Sept. 15, 1963.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Alphonsus Church by the Rev. Donald Manfred, pastor. Cremation followed at the Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens crematorium at Ellenburg Depot.
Memorial contributions to the Tupper Lake Rescue Squad or High Peaks Hospice may be made through
the Rennell Funeral Home, which had charge of funeral arrangements.
