Raymond M. McCarty, 74, World War I veteran and former Walnut resident, died at 3:30 Tuesday morning, March 19, 1968 at Marten's Manor in Griswold. He had resided at the Griswold nursing home 2 1/2 years.
The son of Michael and Mary Fitspatricks McCarty, he was born south east of Walnut Aug 14, 1893 and lived on the farm until about 14 years of age. He later made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Waters and other relatives. He attended St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and was a member of the American Legion.
Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. C. E. Armstrong of Lewis and Mrs. Frank waters of Atlantic and a brother Jess McCarty also of Atlantic.
Funeral services will be held this Thursday morning at 10 o'clock at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Magr. Bart Kane officiating. Burial will be in the Walnut Catholic Cemetery.
