Erastus Curtis Sr. was born on May 14, 1830 in Georgetown Brown County Ohio, the son of Uriah Curtis & Pheobe Martin. On February 4, 1848, Erastus married Mary Caroline Barton in Georgetown Brown County Ohio.Erastus passed away on January 20, 1902 in Barton Custer County Idaho, and was burried in the Old Barton Cemetery, located above Mackay Custer County Idaho. A California pioneer, he was the beloved son of Uriah and Phoebe Martin Curtis. He served as the Town Marshal in Moroni, Utah and was the Sherriff of Emery County, Utah. He was one of the first postal carriers in California, Utah, and Idaho. He helped build the First Transcontinental Railroad at Promontory, Utah. He was an early settler of Orangeville, Utah and San Bernardino, California.
