Barbara was born on September 12, 1936 to Roy and Alma Spangler. She grew up in Kermit and graduated from Kermit High School. She graduated from Texas A&I in Kingsville, summa cum laude and received a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. She returned to Texas A&I and became certified to teach math and English at the secondary level.
Barbara met Harold McDonald in October of 1954. They married on September 17, 1955 and were together for 50 years.
She taught math at Alice High School for fourteen years and was head of the Math Department. She and her family moved to Midland in 1982 from San Antonio. She worked at Midland College in the math lab for twenty years and is remembered as one of the best math tutors in Midland. Barbara was an avid reader and loved to work crossword puzzles on a daily basis. She loved her five grandchildren dearly and enjoyed spoiling them whenever possible. She was a dedicated mom and loving wife who will be dearly missed by all.
Survivors include her husband, Harold McDonald of Midland; two sons & daughters-in-law, Blake and Debra McDonald of Flower Mound, and Eric and Julie McDonald of Bloomington, Minnesota; five grandchildren, Dillon and Connor McDonald of Flower Mound; and William, Katherine and Margaret McDonald of Bloomington; two sisters & brothers-in-law, Edna and Roger Willmann of Broken Arrow, OK and Pat and Gene Shifflet of Houston; one sister-in-law, Ellen Spangler of San Antonio.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Alma Spangler and a brother, Roy Spangler.
