1885, when Mabel was four, her mother Caroline died of consumption in Missouri.

In 1900 Mabel, age 18, was living with the Cunninghan family at 537 South Maple Street in Centralia Illinois. Thomas Cunningham is listed as the constable. She is listed as a ‘boarder" attending school.

1908 BUFFALO REPUBLICAN: "A.C.Branch returned last Saturday from Illinois where he was called by the serious illness of his sister, Miss Mabel, who is not expected to live. She has a large circle of friends here who hope to hear of her recovery."

Young Mabel Branch never Married. She died Of "Consumption" aged 27 years 10 months and 10 days. Consumption:  A wasting away of the body; formerly applied especially to pulmonary tuberculosis. The disorder is now known to be an infectious disease caused by the bacterial species Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
