Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Rupp Funeral Home. She lie instate at 9 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, Maybee, with a Mass celebrating her life at 10 a.m. The Rev. Robert Bauer, pastor of St. Patrick Church, Carleton, will officiate.
Lena was born May 1, 1929 in Monroe; she was the daughter of Nick and Florence (Serbin) Moldovan. She married Leonard J. Bonk October 5, 1946 in Monroe; he preceded her in death on November 11, 1995.
Lena was a member of St. Patrick Church. She was and avid sports fan; especially University of Michigan Football and Detroit Tigers.
She enjoyed watching her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in their sporting events.
She is survived by five sons, Lennie (Sandy) Bonk, Jr. of Petersburg, Bennie (Rose) Bonk of Newaygo, Patrick (Mary) Bonk of Livonia, Scott (Theresa) Bonk of Grant and Charles Bonk of Newaygo; two daughters, Pam (David) Oley of Monroe and Barbara (David) Reneau of Thompsonville; three sisters, Elizabeth Myers of Monroe, Joan (James) Dussia of Monroe and Patricia (Robert) Barron of Temperance; twenty grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Annette Bumstead.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick Church, Heartland Hospice or Fountain View of Monroe Activities Department.
