Gay Bacon Died Suddenly Saturday
Gay Bacon, well-known farmer living in Patterson neighborhood, died suddenly Saturday morning, October 29, at 8:30 o'clock. Death was due to an heart attack of heart failure and came without warning. Deceased had arisen and eaten breakfast. Shortly afterwards he complained of feeling ill, and lay down on a cot in the room, and expired almost instantly. He was comparatively a young man, being but 52 years, 5 months, and 9 days old when the summons came.
Funeral Services were held at the Woods school house near the deceased's home, conducted by Rev. A. M. Preve of Piedmont, assisted by Rev. I. L. Brooks of Brunot. Interment was made in the Woods cemetery. Pall bearers were his five brothers, Chauncy, Rollin, Pharez, Martin, and Ralph Bacon, and his brother-in-law A. Boosinger. The Yates Undertaking of Piedmont was in charge of funeral arrangements.
The funeral services were attended by a very large crown of sorrow relatives and friends, testifying mutely but eloquently the esteem in which Mr. Bacon was held by all who knew him.
He leaves surviving his widow, formerly Miss Rosa E. Costner, to whom he was married October 24, 1901, and three sons.
