July 1952 - Passage. Louis Kandler, 60, the brother of Frieda Harrigfeld a well know Fremont county farmer, died Monday of a heart ailment. Born in Germany, he came to the United States in 1913 and settling in Squirrel, where he was engaged in farming. Louis is survived by his widow, Minnie Warsany, three sons Hans, William and Kurt Kandler. three brother and four sisters.
September 1967 - Passage. ASHTON, Sept. 17 — Frieda Elizabeth Kandler Harrigfeld, 73, long time Ashton resident died at the local hospital Saturday following a short illness.
BORN IN GERMANY. She was born Nov. 24, 1893 at Woldegk, Germany, the daughter of Fredricke Peters Kandler and Louis Kandler. She spent her early life in Germany where she attended school. She worked as a cashier and bookkeeper in Hamburg, Germany, until 1925 when she came to Ashton where her brother Louis C. Kandler was living.
She married William Ernest Harrigfeld on Aug. 10, 1927 at Ashton. The couple farmed seven miles each of Ashton until 1942 when they moved to Ashton where she has since resided. Her husband died Nov. 18, 1955.
She was a member of the Lutheran Church and a member of the Lutheran Women's League.
SURVIVORS. She is survived by six sons: Chris, Oakland, Calif., John, Modesto, Calif., William, Fritz, Ernest, and Ira all of Ashton; one brother, Karl living in West Africa; and three sisters living in Germany, Marie Geier, Elizabeth Vaganer and Anna Roth; and 17 grandchildren.
SERVICES. Funeral services will be Monday in the Zion Lutheran Church of Ashton at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Lester E. Muhly of Idaho Falls officiating. Interment will be in the Pineview Cemetery in Ashton.
