Retta Bacon
Retta Bacon, 89, Joplin, died at 1:12 p.m. Saturday at Oak Hill Hospital after a
long illness.
Mrs. Bacon was born Aug. 21, 1903, at Carthage. She grew up in the Webb City
area and was a lifelong area resident. She worked at the Army Ammunition Plant
at Parsons, Kan., during World War II. She later worked 10 years as a nurse's
aide at what now is St. John's Regional Medical Center.
She married Clarence Bacon in 1946 in Joplin. He died in 1963.
Survivors include a son, William E. Dodson, Grove, Okla.; 25 grandchildren; 22
great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are pending with Parker Mortuary.
