Bessie Mae Adkins Earley, 86, of the 1300 block of Kay Ave., died Jan. 25, 1994, in a Chesapeake hospital.
Mrs. Earley was born in Hertford County, N.C., and was a Baptist.
Survivors include her husband, James Haywood Earley Sr.; five daughters, Nancy Carter, June Twine and Dianne Miller, all of Chesapeake, and Lorene Odom and Peggy Amato, both of Virginia Beach; four sons, James H. Earley Jr. and Fred Earley, both of Virginia Beach, Douglas Earley of Poquoson, Va., and Jerry Earley of Chesapeake; three sisters, Cordell Askew and Helen Doughtry, both of Ahoskie, and Thelma Odom of Tyner, N.C.; 25 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Graham Funeral Home, South Norfolk Chapel, by the Rev. Roger D. Mardis. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. today and at 1309 Kay Ave., Chesapeake, at all other times.
