Mr. Baile of Upper Arlington was born to Inez (Schofield) and Emory Baile. Preceded in death by his brother Ralph Baile. Survived by his wife Gwen and their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a sister Frances McBride.
-------------------------
Kenneth Baile was an officer with the 793rd Bomb Squadron, 468th Bomb Group, 58th Bomb Wing, 20th Air Force. The 58th Bomb Wing introduced the B-29 Superfortress into combat.

As a Captain, Kenneth was one of the first men of this unit to arrive in Kharagpur, India on March 21st 1944, as a lead element for what was to be a mass migration of men and equipment from Salina, KS to India as part of "Operation Matterhorn".

Going forward, Captain Baile filled a variety of key roles for his unit. He was called upon in July 1944 to run the mess hall. The Squadron's history of those times said, "Captain Baile has been doing a bang-up job at the mess hall and as the "chow" improves at "Baile's Beanery", so does the decoration."

In August 1944, he became the temporary Commanding Officer of the 14th Maintenance Squadron, replacing Major Ben Golden who returned to the States for discharge.

In October 1944, Ken Baile was named the Executive Officer of the Squadron, and in January 1945, he was promoted to Major in this role.

In May of 1945, Major Baile led the main body of troops as they moved from the Calcutta wharfs to Tinian Island. After this move, in June 1945, Major "Cactus Kenny" Baile was transferred out of the Squadron to be Group Adjutant at the 58th Bomb Wing.
